Welcome from the Mayor
Welcome to Atlanta and to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Your visit coincides with an exciting and busy time at Hartsfield-Jackson, which
recently retained the title as the world's busiest passenger airport for the 15th
straight year. Growth and improvements happen every day at the airport, all of them
directed toward creating the best possible experience for you and other travelers
to and through Atlanta.
That means the airport continues to expand its options for travelers, from adding
Southwest Airlines to its roster of passenger airlines to updating food and beverage
outlets throughout the terminals with local legends and world-renowned brands.
Our international visitors will experience the most high-profile new development at
Hartsfield-Jackson - the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal. With the Federal
Aviation Administration forecasting that international traffic will increase
by more than 30 percent over the next four years — to 13 million in 2015 — the new terminal will
support the ever-changing needs of our airline partners and our customers for years to come.
Additionally, the international terminal helps strengthen Atlanta's position as a global gateway
for the southeastern United States and as a preferred destination for international business and
tourism. With the new facilities, Atlanta will have a 40-gate international air travel gateway with
service to nearly 80 international destinations in more than 50 countries.
Most importantly to you, our international travelers will only have to check their bags once, a vast
improvement over past check-in and U.S. Customs policies.
Whether you are traveling for business or leisure — again, welcome to Hartsfield-Jackson. We are working
to ensure that your airport experience is pleasant and efficient, and we hope you will have an opportunity
to explore all that the City of Atlanta has to offer.
Sincerely,
Kasim Reed
