Hartsfield-Jackson passenger traffic up for November

ATLANTA — Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport announced today that passenger traffic in November was 3.05 percent higher than a year earlier, increasing from 7,249,112 passengers in 2010 to 7,470,411 passengers in 2011. International passengers increased by 3.10 percent — from 636,302 to 656,016.

Total passenger traffic for January through November 2011 increased by 3.74 percent over the same period last year — from 82,110,987 to 85,178,647.

Our passenger traffic has been consistently up by about 3 per cent throughout the year, as it was again in November," said Aviation General Manager Louis Miller. “This puts us on track for a record-breaking year.”

Aircraft operations (landings and takeoffs) decreased by 2.65 percent during November and by 2.78 percent for the year to date — from 873,760 to 849,483 aircraft operations. Airlines’ reduced use of smaller regional aircraft accounted for most of this decrease. International operations increased by 8.45 percent during November and by 11.34 percent for the year to date.

Total air cargo for November decreased by 3.05 percent but is up by .87 percent for the year to date — from 600,857 to 606,067 metric tons. International exports increased by 2 percent for the year to date.
