Hartsfield-Jackson Airport Statement on Fire and Smoke Incident on Train Level of Concourse T
All operations have resumed and are back to normal
ATLANTA – At approximately 5:20 a.m., heavy smoke was reported near the train level of Concourse T. Firefighters responded immediately and the incident was contained shortly thereafter. At this time, we believe that it may have started from a motor in one of the escalators. We are currently investigating the cause and will release the details as soon as possible. During the incident, two firefighters sustained minor injuries from a slip and fall accident. They were transported to an urgent care center but upon arrival, the firefighters decided not to seek medical attention.
Passengers were briefly rerouted due to the incident. There were no major flight delays and the impact to operations was minimal.
At this time, all gates are open and flight operations are normal. Security lines are now averaging less than 10 minutes.
