Hartsfield-Jackson on Track to Complete One of the Largest Concessions Roll-outs in North America

In March 2011 the RFP process was initiated; today 122 new food and retail locations are open

ATLANTA – This month marks three years since Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport solicited Requests for Proposals for one of the largest concession roll-outs in North America. Today, customers passing through Hartsfield-Jackson are met with a variety of dining and retail options, including nationally-known brand and local favorites. Upon the project’s completion, Hartsfield-Jackson will boast one of the highest number of concession locations of any airport in the world.

“At the world’s busiest passenger airport, enhancing the customer service experience is at the top of our priorities,” said Hartsfield-Jackson Interim General Manager Miguel Southwell. “By the end of 2014, nearly all of the 152 new dining and retail options will be complete, and I believe our concessions program will rival that of any airport in the world.”

The concessions roll-out brought the first airport P.F. Chang’s to Hartsfield-Jackson, as well as the first iHOP Express and LongHorn Steakhouse. Atlanta-based favorites such as Grindhouse Killer Burgers, Ecco, The Original El Taco, LottaFrutta and Varasano’s Pizzeria have also opened at Hartsfield-Jackson. Well-known retail brands such Coach, MAC Cosmetics, Michael Kors, and Spanx are now available to travelers. Additionally, as part of the concessions program, the Airport welcomed its first independent VIP lounge, The Club at ATL, which is accessible to all travelers at a daily rate and does not require a membership.

Late last year, Hartsfield-Jackson’s International Terminal food court was named the world’s best Airport Food Court by The Moodie Report in its 3rd Annual Airport Food & Beverage Awards. P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, one of the Airport’s newest restaurants, recently won Best New Food & Beverage Concept at the 2014 Airport Revenue News Awards. One Flew South, one of Hartsfield-Jackson’s premier restaurants, is currently a semifinalist for a prestigious James Beard Award in the Outstanding Service category, and it is also the first airport restaurant to be recognized by the James Beard Foundation.
