Hartsfield-Jackson passenger traffic up for May

ATLANTA – Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport announced today that passenger traffic in May was 1.51 percent higher than a year earlier, increasing from 8,335,507 passengers in 2011 to 8,461,608 passengers in 2012.

Total passenger traffic for the year to date increased by 4.69 percent over the same period last year — from 36,495,161 in 2011 to 38,205,679 in 2012.

Aircraft operations (landings and takeoffs) in May were 0.29 percent higher than a year earlier, increasing from 79,976 to 80,207 in 2012 and increased by 1.72 percent for the year to date.

Total air cargo for May decreased by 4.59 percent compared with last year — from 54,796 in 2011 to 52,283 in 2012 — and decreased by 5.08 percent for the year to date.
