Runway 27R Extension Paving & Lighting
This is construction of a 500 foot extension of Runway 27R and parallel Taxiways
Lima and Mike to the east. This project includes 44,000 square yards of pavement
and associated sub grade, lighting, striping, and relocation of NAVAIDS (lights
and localizer). This runway extension, as reflected in the Airport Layout Plan,
will allow for greater safety and range of aircraft. In addition to this work, design
for a potential dedicated non-secure vehicle haul road to provide access to the
MHJIT construction site and as well as future access to the southwest corner of
the international terminal apron was developed and priced but not constructed due
to cost.
Taxiways SC & SJ Extensions
Project extends Taxiway SC/SJ north through the middle airfield from Taxiway R to
Taxiway L. The length of these taxiways is approximately 1,800 feet. The purpose
of these taxiways is to provide a more direct crossing location for aircraft traveling
to and from the CPTC to Runway 10/28.
HVAC Upgrades- Automatic Train Control Equipment Room
After twelve (12) years, the two air conditioning units located in the APM control
room have deteriorated past their useful life and lack sufficient cooling capacity
creating a less than adequate operating environment for the electronic control equipment.
This project is to replace the two air conditioning units.
Central Passenger Terminal Complex (CPTC) Miscellaneous Phase II
The Miscellaneous Phase II projects are located in the Terminals and Concourses
and include the following:
1. Upgrade Wall Finishes at Atrium Escalators near USO.
2. Remove Illuminated Signs above APM Doors and Finish Fascia.
3. Upgrade Transportation Mall Baggage Claim Escalator Wall Finishes.
4. Upgrade Wall Finishes in Corridor North of New South Check Point.
5. Upgrade APM Mall Power Walkway External Wall Finishes for Impact Resistance.
Central Passenger Terminal Complex (CPTC) Miscellaneous Phase III
The Miscellaneous Phase III projects are located in the Terminals and Concourses
and include the following:
1. Finish and Paint Visible Walls inside APM Tunnel between Concourses D & E
2. Install upgraded TSA/APD podiums at top of baggage claim escalators
3. Replace ceiling tile between Meter/Greeter Area and Atrium
4. Upgrade South Terminal wall finishes adjacent to News Store and Post Office
5. Upgrade terrazzo floor finish in "Prototype" restrooms adjacent to AA Baggage
Claim Lower Level Terminal North

to curbsides
Life Safety Upgrades - Terminal & Concourses
The Life Safety Report Update - Terminal & Concourses project involves identification
and correction of existing Life Safety related deficiencies within Central Passenger
Terminal Complex (CPTC). The initial phase of project will include review, analysis
and update of current CPTC Life Safety Report, prepared in 2003, for compliance
with current applicable Codes. The updated report will make recommendations for
correction of existing deficiencies. The subsequent phases of project will include
documentation and implementation of recommended corrective work.
Phase II Vertical Transportation (Phase A2 & B1)
This project is the second phase of a 2 phase project to modernize the Airport's
Vertical Transportation system inclusive of escalators, elevators and moving walkways.
Elevators exhibited significant signs of wear due to a greater level of user interface
than escalators and thus cosmetic renovation is equally as important as replacement
of operating systems. Therefore forty-four (44) units installed before 1992 have
been identified in need of renovation. Fifty-two (52) units installed between 1992
and 1997 will get cosmetic upgrades.
ISD Telecom Room Expansion - T3
The scope of this project is to expand the telecom room (DAS) and renovate the space
to add an additional carrier. The room will need to be reworked by adding firewalls,
additional power, HVAC, and fire protection.
K-9/EOD Kennel Facility and Office
The scope of this project is to provide a new kennel for the APD and EOD canine
teams and their handlers.
ISD Server Room and Telecom Emergency Power Generator Upgrades
The purpose of the project is to provide emergency electrical power to the ISD area.
A generator will be provided to back-up ISD servers and other important functions
such as space conditioning in the server and main distribution frame rooms. The
project will provide a new 500kW generator in an outdoor enclosure located on the
T North Apron. An existing room near AA baggage claim has been selected to contain
the automatic transfer switch, switchboard, two UPS systems, air conditioning unit,
transformers and distribution panels. The room requires modifications to meet current
fire codes.
Terminal Frontage Improvements Phase I & II
Phase 1 - Repair cracks, holes and uneven surfaces in sidewalks and re-surface all
of the upper curbside north, south, and west walkways for a uniform look. The re-surfacing
will be done with a material which is aesthetically pleasing, slip resistant and
aids in the maintaining of the walkways. Phase 2 - Complete the replacement of temporary
railing along the north and south outer curbs and west curb.
Gate D7 Upgrades
This project will convert Gate 7 on Concourse D to a City Common Use Gate. The scope
of work will include:
1. Replace millwork to match airport standard
2. Replace seating to match airport standard
3. Install Common Use Terminal Equipment and Gate Information Display system
4. Bring loading bridge up to airport standard
5. Install Pre-conditioned Air on the loading bridge
Fire Stations #35 - Remodeling/Expansion
The purpose of the project is to provide Aircraft Rescue Fire Facilities with services
that meet requirements as outlined in COA Fire Station Needs Assessment and program
concept documents. The stations have occupational Health and Safety concerns. Renovations
are necessary to meet fire station's current and future needs, while ensuring that
all governing codes, regulations, federally mandated emergency response requirements
and unique ARFF operational requirements are met.
