Airport Preparing for Third Annual "Aviation
Day at the Capitol"
By Bob Picariello
Georgia's State Senators and Representatives and the public will learn
more about Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on February
8, 2006, during, "Aviation Day" at the Capitol. Airport presentations
will be set up in the South Wing of the Capitol Building and legislators
will be invited to visit and interact with airport personnel. Representatives
from the Department of Aviation, Airport's Fire and Police Departments,
and Airport Noise Monitoring will be on hand to answer questions and
demonstrate their procedures.
The hit of last year's event was the Segway two wheeled personal transportation
device demonstrated by the Airport's Police Department. It is anticipated
that the Segway will be back in 2005 along with several other innovative
tools from the Airport's many divisions.
City of Atlanta Mayor, Shirley Franklin will host a luncheon for the
Fulton and Clayton County Legislative Delegations. Aviation General
Manager, Ben DeCosta will also be on site and at the luncheon to meet
the legislators and address their questions.
