Season of Giving
By Kimberly Sharkey
More than two-dozen children received an early visit from Santa this
year thanks to Santa's Copilot Toy Drop that was held at the Peachtree
City's Falcon Field on December 10, 2005.
The Toy Drop delivered approximately 400 presents to children from five
families that were selected by the Fayette County Department of Family
and Children Services. There were more than 100 individuals who contributed
to this highly successful event through time, money or gifts including
major civic/private organizations - ASA Delta Connection, Hartsfield-Jackson
Development Program, Black Pilots Association, PBS & J, Aircraft Spruce
East, the Senior Adult Council of Peachtree City and World Airways to
ensure these children were able to experience a holiday of it's true
meaning of giving. The gifts were selected based on the child's wish
list.
While the children enjoyed breakfast at the Airport's terminal building,
at the South end of the airfield, Santa's copilots were loading airplanes
with gifts. Santa's plane taxied to the Airport terminal to unload the
gifts for the children. Children had the opportunity to sit on Santa's
lap and tell him what they prized most for Christmas. The real fun began
when the children ripped off the wrapping paper to discover Santa's
cleverness.
