Travelers Find Calming Ambiance at the New Sojourner’s Cafe
By Pamela Wilson

What’s the marketing inspiration of the newly-opened Sojourner’s Cafe located on Concourse E across from gate E-29? The menu header says it all.

“You’ve had a hectic day – a day that started across the country or even another continent. We’re delighted that you’ve decided to take a break with us. Enjoy a beverage and a meal, and take a few moments to ‘Sojurn.’”

Indeed, the azure-themed décor featuring mosaic tiles, mirrored walls, plush fabric furnishing, and art-deco light fixtures - not to mention the live jazz keyboardist playing soothing renditions - create a very calming presence.

Global Concessions also operates an identical Sojourner’s establishment at the opposite end of Concourse E, a carry-out Sojourner’s on E, and another Sojourner’s location on Concourse D.

Aside from physical ambiance, the Sojourner’s brand is about service and cuisine, says Cindy Hill, who manages the newest location. “We want people to come in, relax, have a cocktail and enjoy great food that is delicious, unique, and memorable,” she said.

With menu selections such as Apple Smoked Pork Loin Sandwich, Adobe Spring Rolls, Black Forest Turkey Sandwich, and Oriental Battered Shrimp, the menu is anything but average fare.

There are also several healthy choices made with zero trans fat, including Cajun Gumbo and Caribbean Chicken Salad. Desserts include Hershey’s Chocolate Cobbler and Key Lime Pie. There’s also a full breakfast menu. Prices range from about $7-$11 for most entrees, $5-$8 for appetizers and about $5 for desserts.

Whether it’s lunch or dinner time, great food and unique ambiance make Sojourner’s a winner for travelers who are, as the restaurant slogan states, “just passing through.”

Hours of operation: 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., seven days a week. Sojourners at Gate E-29, telephone number, 404-762-9180. Click here for more information on Airport restaurants.
