Airport Concessions: Here We Grow Again
By DeAllous Smith

Finding magazines and snack food in the Atrium of the world’s busiest airport is a cinch. Coming this fall, it will be just as easy to get your hair or nails done, all without ever leaving the Atrium.

Jakki Colours Hair Salon is slated to open a full-service beauty salon in the Airport’s Atrium. The unisex salon will also feature nail technicians, massage therapists and retail.

Atlanta will join the ranks of others airports offering hair salons, including Los Angeles International, John F. Kennedy International and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

“We are always pleased to introduce new concessions to our travelers,” said Concessions Manager Kyle Mastin. “Jakki Colours offers upscale services at reasonable prices. We look forward to making additional announcements in the coming months.”

Currently, aviation officials are reviewing design plans for a new food concept to offer healthy food and beverages choices. The new restaurant will be built later this year in the “meet and greet” section of the Terminal, near the arrivals area.

“We target customers’ requests. We are developing a concept to provide fresh sandwiches and gourmet coffee selections in a sit-down or sidewalk café style environment,” added Mastin. “We’ve seen an increased demand from both Airport employees and travelers for a broader selection of food and beverage in the Atrium.”
