“On the wings of love, up and above the clouds the only way to fly …”

Hudson News Teddy Bear - $12.99
Stop by Hudson News for a cuddly
Valentine’s Day teddy bear, which retails for $12.99

Leave it to balladeer Jeffrey Osborne to set the mood. And with Valentine’s Day right around the corner – Feb. 14 for all you less-than-enthusiasts – there’s still time to tell your sweetheart, “I love you” – or at least “you’re pretty cool, dude.”

There are fun gifts out there and flirtatious ones. Silly, sweet, you name it. So we decided to stroll the concourses at Hartsfield-Jackson and find out just what is available for all you love birds.

“You know, chocolate is always good,” says salesperson Marie Hubbard of Candy Express. “We expect a 35 percent increase in business around Valentine’s Day.” And it’s no wonder. In the candy and novelty shop located in the Atrium, the assortment of sweets is enough to wow any chocolate lover.

The location sells pecan clusters, turtles, vanilla buttercups, truffles, chocolate-covered pretzels and jumbo peanut butter cups, among others. Over in the corner, you’ll find plush, whimsical Ty bears named “Hollibear” and “Romantic” holding satin hearts. They retail for $13.99 a piece. Garfield’s even in on the action with a plush toy cuddling up to his own satin heart.

“These are perfect gifts,” says Hubbard, “and we’re expecting more the closer we get to Valentine’s Day.”

Other outlets around Hartsfield-Jackson caught our eye, too. Here’s a roundup of some of our favorite Valentine’s Day goodies:

The Body Shop (also in area malls) – Valentine’s Day sale: Spend $26 and get free shower gel of your choice. Use the deal to put together a custom gift set of stress-relieving, fragrant body lotion ($13), shower gel ($11), exfoliating body polish ($20) and body butter ($20). Pre-packaged gift sets are available for $35. For men, craft a gift set of airy White Musk cologne ($24), shaving cream ($14), after-shave ($14), body wash ($14) and shaving brush ($10).

The Coca-Cola Store (also located at Centennial Olympic Park) – Flannel pajama pants would be a great gift to help keep her warm and snuggly. They’re white with red hearts all over and go for $28. There are also boxer shorts ($18), tank tops ($20) or a complete gift box set for $38.

Brookstone (also in area malls) – The sports fan in your beau would appreciate a digital SportsCaster. It’s a wireless tabletop scoreboard that showcases NFL and NBA game scores and updates every 15 minutes. It’s $99, has a time readout and requires four AA batteries, which are sold separately.

Hudson News (also check Amazon or Borders) – “You Suck: A Love Story” ($13.95) is a New York Times Bestseller by Christopher Moore that tells the comedic story of a man who discovers not only is his girlfriend a vampire, but he is, too! Despite this little quirk, they decide to work through their issues.
