Flying First Class - at ATL’s U.S. Postal Store
By Triphenya Bailey

Whether you need to buy a book of stamps or mail a package to Grandma, the full-service post office at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the place to use.

Conveniently located on the Terminal South side near the Airport Atrium, the U.S. Postal Store is staffed from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, the walk-in store is open from noon until 8 p.m. for passengers who need to make sure packages get to their destination. The store features a mail drop and self-service center that is accessible 24 hours a day.

“A lot of people don’t realize that there are airport mail centers near most major airports,” said Michael Miles, the communications manager for the U.S. Postal Service Atlanta District.

The Tampa and Memphis airports are among those in the United States that feature “in-terminal facilities” or in-house post offices. Miles, who is part of the Postal Service’s Southeast regional public affairs staff, said the in-terminal locations have seen increased numbers of customers affected by the carry-on restrictions regarding liquids.

“We see more people coming in and mailing items to their home addresses,” said Miles.
