Signs of the
Times at Hartsfield-Jackson
By John McCullough
Several formerly static directional signs work a new way at Hartsfield-Jackson.
 |
| A pilot program
has begun to replace current directional signage inside the
Airport with electronic signs that can be updated in real-time.
The screens provide travelers with the most current information.
Adding new content will be a mouse click away vs. someone having
to physically replace outdated signs.
Making changes electronically is less labor
intensive,” said Project Manager Ronald Pittman of the
Information Services Division. “These signs will help
ensure that customers aren’t misdirected due to outdated
information.”
The new signs are in place on Concourse B,
Concourse D and in the Terminal North ticketing area. Currently,
the screens project a general location directory. Future plans
under consideration include adding news content, flight status
or Airport information.
