Airport Reaches Out to Male Youth, Plans February Job Shadowing

The Department of Aviation's Distinguished Male Mentoring Program completed another year reaching out to young males. Themed "Preparing Students for Takeoff," volunteers from Hartsfield-Jackson and other organizations visited area schools last November and December to discuss careers in aviation and peer pressure among other topics. In February, the Department joins AirTran Airways for "One Great Day of Job Shadowing." The event focuses on Airport-area middle and high schools and gives students a chance to interact with aviation professionals and take part in an essay contest.

Hartsfield-Jackson Brings a Part of Best Buy Store to the World's Busiest Airport

Hartsfield-Jackson has stocked a Best Buy vending machine with Nintendo DS and games to make the travel experience more pleasurable for global travelers. The unique Airport vending machine, which is located on Concourse A, has games such as "Brain Age 2," "LEGO Batman," "Guitar Hero: On Tour," and "Mario Kart DS".

Digital Displays Bring Added Efficiency

Customers can now be more informed of new shopping areas and places to eat thanks to new digital directories. The easy-to-spot directories are located on Concourse B at the boarding level, at the North ticketing counters across from the Eastern Airlines Memorial, and on Concourse D boarding level near Gate D-16. The directories will make it a snap to locate the more than 70 new stores opening through summer.

Get Ready for a New Shopping Experience at Hartsfield-Jackson

Simply Books, Atlanta Magazine's HOME store and Z-Market, a convenience store, opened recently in the Airport's Atrium. Starbucks, which has several locations throughout the concourses, has opened a location in the Atrium, and Lather, which takes an holistic approach to skin care, is now located on Concourse T. The new locations are part of the Airport's retail renaissance that includes more than 70 new shops opening through summer.
