Delta Air Lines begins cargo service from Atlanta to Narita, Japan Delta Air Lines, the world’s largest air carrier, now offers freighter service from Atlanta to Narita, Japan. Wes McDonald, Aviation operations agent, and Warren Jones, Aviation manager of air services development, worked with airline officials to coordinate the inaugural flight, which departed March 4 at 4:30 a.m. The 747-200 freighter lifted 192,000 pounds of cargo, including construction machinery, textiles and auto parts. Delta offers direct air-cargo service from Atlanta to Narita, Japan, twice a week, with one refueling stop in Anchorage, Alaska.
