BlackBerry store opens at Hartsfield-Jackson
By Roishina C. Henderson

It's a techie's dream, and Hartsfield-Jackson is the first airport in the world to make it come true.

Travelers who enter the new BlackBerry store by Wireless Giant on Hartsfield-Jackson's Concourse B will see a crisp, clean store fully stocked with the latest high-tech phones and accessories.

"This is a full-service location, where travelers can establish new service, upgrade existing plans, and shop for the latest and greatest BlackBerry devices and accessories," said Lance Lyttle, Aviation chief information officer.

The store, near Gate B18, is owned and operated by Airport Retail Management (ARM).

"We're thrilled to unveil this new customer experience," Cecilia Hunter, ARM managing partner, said at an April 21 ribbon-cutting ceremony. "Passengers can get quick and good answers to their [smart]phones. We have a fully trained staff."

Lyttle said the BlackBerry store is part of the Airport's ongoing effort to upgrade technology offerings for travelers.

"As CIO, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the technology infrastructure enhancements we've made at Hartsfield-Jackson. One in particular is our distributed antennae system, which better enables the distribution of wireless signals to remote locations of the Airport," he said. "This new BlackBerry location is just another way we're accommodating the needs of our mobile, wireless customers."

ARM will open a second BlackBerry store on Concourse A soon and has planned another electronics store, called Wireless eMall, for Concourse C. Hartsfield-Jackson is opening more than 70 new stores by this summer as part of its plan to upgrade the retail experience for travelers.
