Concessions director, program win ACI-NA awards

Hartsfield-Jackson’s Concessions unit received two awards from the Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA). John Cugasi, director of Concessions, was named ACI-NA’s 2009 Concessions Person of the Year, and the Airport’s shops were recognized as the Best Convenience Retail Program in the large airport category.

Under Cugasi’s leadership for the last three years, Hartsfield-Jackson’s Concessions program consistently has exceeded $700 million in gross revenues over all its lines of business, including car rental, food and beverage, retail and business services. The program received the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2008 Best in Real Estate: Deal of the Year award and the 2009 Airport Revenue News Best Concessions Management Team award.

Hartsfield-Jackson receives FAA safety award

In recognition of its planning and execution of an annual tabletop emergency exercise and triennial full-scale disaster drill, Hartsfield-Jackson has been awarded the Airport Safety Mark of Distinction award by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Southern Region, Airports Division.

The FAA recognized Hartsfield-Jackson’s creative, efficient and outstanding efforts associated with the drill. Hartsfield-Jackson officials spent six months preparing for the disaster exercise and developing a situational manual that incorporated the active participation of all federal, state and local agencies and the entire aviation community.

American Airlines’ Hartsfield-Jackson team wins company award

The American Airlines team at Hartsfield-Jackson received the company’s Customer Cup for the third quarter of 2009.

The Atlanta station was awarded the Customer Cup based on customer feedback commending significant improvements in aircraft cleanliness, checked baggage delivery, efficiency of boarding, overall experience with American Airlines during flights, likelihood of recommending the airline to others, overall handling of delays and timely/accurate information at gates.
