unit hosts Taxi Appreciation Day
After weeks of rain in metro Atlanta, the clouds over Hartsfield-Jackson separated just in time for Ground Transportation officials to celebrate their most precious resource: people.
The Aviation Ground Transportation unit on October 30 hosted Taxi Appreciation Day, an on-site barbecue, to thank drivers for their commitment to Hartsfield-Jackson and its customers.
“We appreciate the reliable service that taxi drivers deliver to our passengers every day,” said Balram Bheodari, deputy assistant general manager for Operations, Maintenance and Security. “In many cases, taxi drivers represent the first and last impressions that passengers will have with the Airport. From their professional and neat style of dress to displaying a positive attitude, their quality of service helps make Hartsfield-Jackson so successful.”
More than 300 taxi drivers enjoyed flame-grilled turkey burgers and hot dogs prepared by Bheodari; Robert Kennedy, assistant general manager for Operations, Maintenance and Security; and Ground Transportation Manager Winston Cooper.
Cooper was pleased with the event’s turnout and the positive response from drivers.
“This was the Airport’s way of thanking the taxi community
for their hard work and commitment to excellence,” he said.
“And, after seeing the smiles on their faces, I can say that
this was an appreciation day that truly lived up to its name. We will
look at making this an annual event.”
