welcomes new police commander On January 7, Maj. E. Renee Propes was assigned to Hartsfield-Jackson as its newest commander over the Atlanta Police Department’s (APD) Airport Section, replacing Maj. Shawn L. Jones, who was promoted to deputy chief and assigned to the APD’s Support Services Division. “As the commander of the Atlanta Police Department Airport
Section, I am responsible for the day-to-day operations of the police
function,” Propes said. “We enforce all applicable state
laws and county and city ordinances. We also support the overall security
function here at Hartsfield-Jackson. Propes joined the Atlanta Police Department in January 1984. In
January 2005, she was promoted to major and assigned to Zone 6. Since
then, she has held positions in Zone 3, Special Operations, and the
Narcotics and Vice units, and she has served as commander of the Crimes
Against Children Unit and as assistant commander at the Airport.
