Books/Café Intermezzo offers books, pastries, ambience It’s possible to forget you’re in the middle of a hustling and bustling airport. Buckhead Books/Café Intermezzo held a grand opening for its Hartsfield-Jackson location on January 12 at the Concourse B centerpoint. The popular Atlanta brands offer travelers a place to relax, grab a favorite book and enjoy some international coffee and decadent desserts. “Veteran travelers will recall the days when a cup of coffee and the daily newspaper were only available from cold and unwelcoming vending machines. One look over my shoulder and you can see how far airport concessions have come,” Dan Molloy, assistant general manager for Planning and Development, said at the grand opening event. “Hartsfield-Jackson is honored to welcome the latest addition to the Airport’s concessions lineup, Buckhead Books/Café Intermezzo,” Molloy said. “The spirit of the independent bookseller is alive and well at Buckhead Books, where the latest newspapers and magazines are available, alongside the literary works of local and regional authors. At Café Intermezzo, travelers will enjoy gourmet coffee and delicious, sweet and savory fare — before flights or between connections.” The grand opening event featured live, smooth jazz performed by local musicians Cori Stevenson and Ryan Whitehead. New York Times best-selling author and Georgia native Karin Slaughter signed copies of her latest book, “Undone.”
