Hartsfield-Jackson in the news A news conference on July 13 brought significant media attention to three good news stories that Hartsfield-Jackson had to share. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and interim General Manager Robert Kennedy announced the release of a study that shows that the Airport has a $32.6 billion economic impact on the region; the addition of Asiana Airlines to the fold of international cargo carriers; and the Air Transport Research Society’s selection of Hartsfield-Jackson as the most efficient airport in the world. Several media outlets covered one or more of the good stories, including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, WABE 90.1 FM, the Atlanta Business Chronicle (two stories: one on the economic impact and one on Asiana Airlines and the ATRS award), Global Atlanta, the Clayton News Daily and the SaportaReport blog.
