| ‘Pink ladies’ make Airport debut Have you ever exited a restroom red-faced, having found out — too late — that you’d entered the wrong one? In an effort to improve signage and prevent bathroom mix-ups for travelers, Hartsfield-Jackson has brought out the “pink ladies.” When the Planning and Development and Innovations units determined that the signage on the men’s and women’s restrooms was too similar — same size and colors, which could be difficult to differentiate from a distance — they worked together to find a solution. The answer was found in the signs above the restroom entrances, where light shines through acrylic to illuminate shapes of men or women. Previously, the acrylic behind both the men- and women-shaped icons had been blue. Now, the blue acrylic has been replaced with pink acrylic for the women’s restrooms — introducing the “pink ladies.” Installation of the pink acrylic began on January 26 and will continue throughout the Airport until all restrooms are color-coded.
The pink acrylic above the women’s restrooms will help distinguish them from the men’s restrooms, which have blue images.
