Airport's role in R&R recognized The Department of the Army and the Atlanta Military Personnel Assistance Point hosted an event on February 17 to support the troops and recognize the organizations and people at Hartsfield-Jackson who contribute to the success of the U.S. Central Command’s Rest and Recuperation (R&R) leave program. The R&R program recently surpassed the milestone of helping 1 million service members reach home since the current R&R program began in 2003. “For the entire Airport team, it is truly a privilege and an honor to support the Atlanta Military Personnel Assistance Point and the USO as they help our brave service men and women reconnect with their friends and loved ones at home,” said Balram Bheodari, Airport interim assistant general manager for Operations, Maintenance and Security. Maj. Gen. Jeffery Arnold, director of human resources policy and assistant deputy chief of staff, Department of the Army, provided keynote remarks and then welcomed service members at the Airport’s USO center. The event also featured an Army band and color guard and a guest singer.
A color guard was part of an event to honor military personnel and recognize the organizations and people at the Airport who play a role in helping the Rest and Recuperation (R&R) program succeed.
