Hartsfield-Jackson shares information at the Capitol Officials from Hartsfield-Jackson visited the Georgia State Capitol on March 7 to share information about the Airport with state lawmakers. At Hartsfield-Jackson’s sixth annual Aviation Day at the Capitol, members of the Airport’s senior management, Fire Department and Police Department enlightened state legislators on Airport projects, operations, plans for growth and accomplishments. Walter Vinson, Aviation intergovernmental affairs manager, said much of the information focused on the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal, which is expected to be completed in spring 2012. The Airport also introduced lawmakers to the ongoing Atlanta Metropolitan Aviation Capacity Study Phase II, which is considering the feasibility of a second airport for metro Atlanta to accommodate increasing numbers of travelers in the long term. “We always enjoy this opportunity to interact with legislators and help them understand the varied activities, programs and projects that keep the Airport as busy behind the scenes as it is on the concourses,” Vinson said.
