Rental car center receives industry awards
By DeAllous Smith

The International Parking Institute (IPI) awarded Hartsfield-Jackson’s rental car center the designations of Honorable Mention and Award of Merit during its 2011 Awards of Excellence ceremony in Pittsburgh.

Each year, the IPI salutes world-class examples of parking design, operational creativity and program innovation. The rental car center received an Honorable Mention accolade in Category II for best design of a parking facility with more than 800 spaces. The award is based on exterior appearance, continuity with surrounding environment, economy of construction, security, lighting and ease of use.

The center received an Award of Merit for Category V, which addresses a facility’s architectural treatment and aesthetic elements in its natural context, landscaping, and graphic and art elements.

“We’re delighted to have our rental car center recognized by the International Parking Institute,” Aviation General Manager Louis Miller said. “These awards reaffirm the vision, energy and commitment that we have invested in this truly state-of-the-art facility.”

Since its grand opening in December 2009, the rental car center has received applause and accolades from customers and industry professionals. In 2010, the Georgia Engineering Alliance presented Hartsfield-Jackson with an award for the rental car center’s design and operational efficiency.
