Artist offers behind-the-scenes look at ‘Recycle Runway’
By DeAllous Smith

On July 14, Hartsfield-Jackson’s Art Program hosted its first artist-guided tour of Nancy Judd’s “Recycle Runway” exhibit on Concourse E.

A few employees and several passengers accompanied Judd as she visited the nine display cases that house her creations: 18 garments made from discarded and reclaimed materials. She shared personal stories that influenced the design of each piece and spoke of her work to reclaim trash from major corporations, such as Toyota, Target and Delta Air Lines.

Katherine Dirga, Hartsfield-Jackson’s Art Program manager, was very pleased to see the public’s growing interest in the exhibit as the group moved along.

“We started the tour with just a few employees, but by the end we had at least six more art lovers walking with us,” Dirga said.

The exhibit will be on display through April 2012.
