Airport honors customer service excellence
By DeAllous Smith

Hartsfield-Jackson celebrated its 16th annual Customer Service Employee Recognition Program on October 13. Event staff greeted more than 600 Airport employees at the Georgia International Convention Center.

The event kicked off with the presentation of colors by the Atlanta Police Department Honor Guard and a spirited rendition of the national anthem. Customer Service Manager Karen Ellis welcomed the group and asked everyone to “sit back, relax and enjoy” the program.

“I’m proud to say that your personal commitment to excellence and customer service has made a difference in the lives of so many people,” said Aviation General Manager Louis Miller. “On behalf of the 250,000 passengers who pass through our facility each and every day, I want to thank you for your continued commitment and service to Hartsfield-Jackson.”

After the lunch portion, Customer Service Supervisor Naomi Holder drew winners for door prizes, including restaurant gift cards to Houlihan’s and The Cheesecake Factory, a hotel stay at one of Marriott’s worldwide locations, gift cards to Wal-Mart and BP gas stations, an Atlanta Falcons package, American Express gift cards and round-trip airline tickets from Delta Air Lines and AirTran Airways.

To conclude the program, Holder presented customer service awards to recipients of the annual Ambassador, Unsung Hero/Heroine, Heroic Service and Superstar awards. A City of Atlanta Hero Award went to Atlanta Fire Rescue firefighters. All major winners received $500 or more in gift cards.
