Airport map debuts on Google Maps Travelers now will have an easier time navigating through the Airport. On November 29, Hartsfield-Jackson became one of the first airports in the world to give Android phone users access to indoor maps in Google Maps. “We are excited to partner with Google as they launch their indoor map navigation application, which will benefit Hartsfield-Jackson customers,” said Aviation General Manager Louis Miller. “To us, good wayfinding means the customer never has to ask for directions and easily can find a restaurant, a gate or the nearest restroom.” Users of Android devices will need to update the Google Maps application in order to access these indoor maps, but no updates will be required after that one-time installation to get new or updated indoor maps. Users can update Google Maps for Android through the Android Market on their phones or desktops. For more information about Google Maps for Android, please visit http://maps.google.com/starthere.
The indoor map of Hartsfield-Jackson, available on Android phones, helps travelers find their way around the Airport. The portion of the map shown here lets passengers coming up the escalators from the Transportation Mall know, for example, that Bistro del Sol, Bijoux Terner and Piedmont Park TravelMart are nearby. |
