
| Twitter followers win international terminal tour The contest, launched on February 20, challenged followers to retweet the Airport’s messages about the international terminal throughout the week. Winners were selected at random from 113 who retweeted. Drinkard named Engineer of the Year in Government Drinkard received the award at the 2012 Georgia Engineers Week Awards Gala on February 25 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center. According to the Georgia Engineering Alliance, the annual awards recognize deserving and dedicated engineers who have made valuable contributions to their profession and who have had an impact on the engineering community.
"Jim [Drinkard] is an invaluable asset to the Airport," said Aviation General Manager Louis Miller. "I'm proud to have him on my team and very pleased that he is receiving the professional recognition he deserves." International passengers, operations set records According to year-end statistics, international passengers increased by nearly 8 percent year over year — from 9.14 million to 9.86 million. The new high eclipses the previous record, set in 2008, of 9.18 million international passengers. In 2011 there were 68,781 international flight operations, which beat the previous record of 68,376, set in 2007. |
