Airport honors its volunteers
By DeAllous Smith

Hartsfield-Jackson volunteers were recognized for their service during a special awards luncheon.

“Our volunteers provide an invaluable service to our customers,” said Aviation General Manager Louis Miller. “As I walk around the terminal it makes me proud to see our volunteers hard at work answering travelers’ questions and offering assistance.”

In 2012, Airport volunteers logged more than 9,432 hours of service. During the awards luncheon, five of the volunteers were lauded for providing more than 1,800 total hours of service.

“These men and women come to the Airport each day asking for nothing more than the opportunity to serve travelers,” said Aviation Customer Service Manager Jan Lister. “It is an honor and a pleasure to recognize these volunteers for their service.”

The Hartsfield-Jackson volunteer program began in 1996 to coincide with Atlanta’s hosting of the Summer Olympic Games.
