Airport celebrates holidays with first-graders
Hartsfield-Jackson helped local schoolchildren get in the holiday spirit at its annual Holidays at Hartsfield-Jackson event at the Delta Transport Heritage Museum on December 15.
First-graders from Bethune, Cascade and Unidos Dual Language Charter Elementary schools were entertained by a magician and the Tri-Cities High School Magnet Choir. The students had class photos taken with Santa Claus and received gift bags with school supplies donated by Airport concessionaires. The event was hosted by Casual Cal, ringmaster of the world-famous UniverSoul Circus.
In addition to the children being entertained, teachers at the event were presented with gifts of appreciation for their hard work, and one special teacher won two round-trip tickets provided by AirTran Airways.
Director of Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement Myrna White spoke to the students, teachers and parents in attendance.
“When we started this program more than 14 years ago, we welcomed 50 students, and we held the event in the Airport’s Atrium. Today, as you can see, this program has grown, and we are able to celebrate the holidays with you,” White said.
“As always, this event is truly a team effort for every company and employee who donated time and resources to make this program a success. Seeing the smiles of the first-grade students makes it all worth it,” said Tracy Gilbert, aviation special programs manager.
