A look at Earth Day 2013 at Hartsfield-Jackson
The Department of Aviation enjoyed an assortment of educational activities during the 2013 Earth Day celebration. A screening of “Switch”, a film focused on the energy issues facing our world, was the final event in this year’s program. Earlier in the week, Aviation staff were treated to a culinary competition during the Earth Day Cake Contest. Liza Milagro with her botanically-inspired carrot cake walked away with the grand prize – a fully-equipped KitchenAid stand mixer, while Kimberlyn Patton received a $50 gift card for the “People’s Choice” Award. A packed conference room participated in a “Farm to Table” Canning & Preserving “Lunch and Learn” catered by Whole Foods. Another highlight of this year’s program was the annual Electronic Recycling Day. Items weighing in total more than a half ton were brought in for recycling.
“I applaud the Aviation Asset Management and Sustainability team for organizing another successful Earth Day celebration,” said Aviation General Manager Louis Miller. “Protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility, on the job and in our lives outside of work.”
