U.S. Aviation officials will join Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin and Hartsfield-Jackson’s Aviation General Manager Ben DeCosta in opening ceremonies for “The Most Important Runway in America.”

It’s a party for the employees! Department of Aviation, City of Atlanta, Airport-wide employees and Fifth Runway contractors are invited to come out and join Hartsfield-Jackson in celebrating its achievement. Aviation General Manager Ben DeCosta will speak at noon, and activities, entertainment and food for the first 800 employees and contractors will be on hand.

5K on the Fifth Runway Fun Run
Registration begins at 6:00 a.m.
7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Experience the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to run on a 9,000 foot runway before it opens! Join Mayor Shirley Franklin and bring the family to enjoy this 3.1 mile event and say you were the first to run on the Fifth Runway.

Community Day
9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Come one, come all to touch, see and feel what a 9,000 foot long, 150 foot wide runway looks like. A host of activities, musical performances and concessions will be available for all ages.
