Contests Mark Start of Fifth Runway Celebrations
By DeAllous Smith
The world's most efficient and well-managed airport is celebrating
the opening of America's most important runway with two new contests.
The Stamp Design and Five-Star Getaway contests are open to members
of the public who register on the Airport's Web site.
Stamp Design contestants must create a commemorative rendering of
a postage stamp and poster, which acknowledge the opening of the new
runway. The winner will be invited to join Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin
and Aviation General Manager Ben DeCosta on stage to unveil his or
her design during an opening day and media event on May 16. The deadline
for entering the stamp contest is May 11.
And for the Five-Star Getaway contest, entrants must answer multiple
choice questions about the fifth runway and the Federal Aviation Administration
Air Traffic Control Tower. Each day of the contest, a new video, slideshow
and other information will be posted on the site. The last day for
the Five-Star Getaway contest is May 10.
"We encourage all eligible members of the public to participate in
these exciting once-in-a-life- time events," said DeCosta.

rules, visit the fifth runway Opening page on Hartsfield-Jackson's
