As the Project Officer for the Hartsfield-Jackson Development Project, I would like to reaffirm Ben’s statement that we have assembled world class teams of experts that have and will deliver the type of service and quality of work that has made us one of the best airports in the world. Our team is committed to the vision of fostering diverse partnerships that promote success in our community, stimulating the development of our people, businesses and facilities that promote sustainable growth for the Atlanta Region and beyond, and we want to serve as the benchmark for performance based programs, always completed safely, efficiently and with the highest integrity. The Hartsfield-Jackson Development Program, or HDP, oversees the multi-billion fifth runway and expansion programs, which also includes the new East International Terminal, Consolidated Car Rental Facility (CONRAQC), expansion of Concourse E, Riverdale and Sullivan Road relocations, construction of large drainage and sewer projects, a new I-285 bridge structure, a new FAA Control Tower, as well as other expansion and customer improvement efforts. Also, we will provide upgrades, renovations, and expansions to the existing terminals and concourses. Ultimately, a new south domestic expansion facility will be designed and constructed. I am proud of our safety record. There is nothing more important to us than ensuring the safety of our employees and contractors. We have five imperatives in our program: safety is always first, diversity in our workforce, distribution of projects, and scope, schedule and budget. The East International Terminal, part of the Airport’s $5.4 billion dollar, 10-year expansion program, is necessary in order to address the increased demand for international air travel and to support the region’s growth. Reiterating what Ben said earlier, the passenger experience is the most important element of the design, which is being planned from the inside out. Upon completion in 2006, this facility will create an elevated level of customer service and will improve the way passengers navigate through the Airport. Thank you. [END] |
