You are to remove ALL coats
and place them in the X-ray. This includes
suit and sport coats, athletic warm-up jackets, and blazers. If the coat
or jacket is used as the innermost layer of clothing, you do not need
to remove it. A more extensive pat down will be conducted if you alarm
the metal detector or are referred to additional screening. As is the
case today, screeners will verbalize the process as they conduct the inspection.
You may also request a private screening.
Please do not bring wrapped gifts through
security screening. Wrapped gifts will have a high probability of
being unwrapped and hand inspected. You should place them in your checked
baggage.
Please remove ALL lighters,
knives, scissors, and blades of any type or size from your carry-on
baggage. These items should be packed in your checked baggage. They
will not be allowed in the sterile secured areas of the airport or on
board aircraft.
Carry-on baggage is limited to one bag plus one personal item. Personal
items include laptops, purses, small backpacks, briefcases, or camera
cases.
All laptops must be removed from their case. They are subjected to
both x-ray and inspection. The case, without the laptop, must be x-rayed.
If you have a medical condition that requires you to carry a needle and/or
syringe on your person or in your carry on baggage you must also have
the medication that requires such injection on your person. The medication
must be packaged with a pharmaceutical label or professionally printed
label identifying the medication.
Do not put film in your checked
baggage, as the screening equipment will
damage it.
Pack shoes, boots, sneakers, and other footwear
on top of other contents in your luggage.
Avoid over-packing your bag so that the screener will
be able to easily reseal your bag if it is opened for inspection. If possible,
spread your contents over several bags. Check with your airline or travel
agent for maximum weight limitations.
Do not pack food and drink items in checked baggage.
Do not stack piles of books or documents on top of each other;
spread them out within your baggage.
Put all undeveloped film and cameras with film in your carry-on
baggage. If your bag will pass through the X-ray machine more
than 5 times ask for a hand inspection to prevent damage.
Please place identification tags with your name, address and phone
number on all your baggage, including your laptop computer. It
is a good idea to place an identification tag inside your baggage as well.
Consider putting personal belongings in clear plastic bags
to reduce the chance that a TSA screener will have to handle them.
